During this lesson, you will learn how to make sentences and questions about the future.


Pre-Task #1: Grammar Focus (30 mins)

Task#1A

Let’s learn the different structures to speak about the future

To speak about the future, we use:

#1Future Simple
#2Future with Going to
#3Other Expressions

With those structures, we can create:

#1I will start a major
#2I am going to start a major

We could use also:

#3We might start a major
#4I hope to start a new major
#5My goal is to start a new major
#6I plan to start a new major
#7I would like to start a new major
#8I want to start a new major

By the way, we can also say:

#1I wanna start a major
#2I am gonna start a major

Task#1B

Let’s read some sentences with plans about the future

Instructions:

  1. Make pairs
  2. Read the sentences about the future for 10 minutes
  3. Make sure that you understand (1) The Grammar (2) The Vocabulary and (3) The Pronunciation

  1. Write 10 sentences about what you like (15 mins)
  2. Use the connector “so” to join the ideas
  3. Write ideas about what you will do if time and money wouldn’t be an obstacle
  4. 5 sentences must be personal and 5 sentences must be about your professional and academic growth.

Example

  1. I like electronic music so I will probably attend a music festival next week.
  2. I like learning English so I might spend a time in England next summer.
