Published on September 23, 2024 | Updated on September 25, 2024

To make plurals in English, you usually follow these simple rules:

  • Add “s”: For most words, just add “s” at the end. Example: catcats
  • Add “es”: For words that end in s, sh, ch, x, or z, add “es”. Example: busbuses
  • Change “y” to “ies”: If a word ends in a consonant + y, change the y to ies. Example: babybabies
